Its headquarters are located at Sri Aurbindo Marg in New Delhi. Dr Hrushikesh Senapathy has been director of the council since September 2015.

What is NCERT


The Ministry of Education, Government of India established the National Educational Research and Training Council on July 27, 1961, which formally commenced its operations on 1 September 1961. The Council is set up in seven existing national government institutions, such as the National Institute of Basic Education, Central Institute of Education, the Central Bureau of Educational and Vocational Guidance, the Directorate of Extension Programmes for Secondary Education, the National Institute of Audio-Visual Education,  the Central Bureau of Textbook Research, the National Fundamental Education Centre Was done with This institution was separated from the National Council for Indian Education.

NCERT was established by the Government of India, which was established with the aim of advising the central government and provincial governments on matters related to school education. This organization works on all policies related to school education in India. The main behind establishing this organization was that it is to work and help in all policies related to education and social welfare, especially school education.

The objectives of the council are the following.


To promote academic research and to use innovative ideas and exercises.
Developing National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2005).
Training of pre-service and in-service teacher education and national and state level workers.
Collaborate with state, national and international organizations.
